post op HRT ???

Hi all

I am a few weeks post op SAH kept cervix and kept ovaries also. I am 47 and have had a hot flush. vagina feels very dry I know it,s early days yet and I have lots more healing to do. Spoke to doctor and he said should be ok as i kept ovaries but leave it a few weeks and then maybe see him again. Worried that a vaginal dryness may be contributing to the bladder pressure I am still feeling (have been cleared of uti) no pain, bladder still settling down, had a large fibroid resting on it. Would appreciate some feedback, as not sure if i would go into menopause earlier even though i have kept ovaries, due to the trauma of the op?

Re: post op HRT ???

from what I have seen/read here in the forums it is quite common for the ovaries to "fall asleep" for a time after surgery because of the trauma involved and it can take a while for them to "wake-up" again.

I got to keep my ovaries as well and so far havent had any major issues with menopausal symptoms, but i am only 9 days post op too.

would keep in touch with your doc and if things get out of hand, perhaps s/he can get you some relief with short term, low-dose HRT.

hoping you are feeling better soon! (((hugs)))

Thank you for your reply, I may just be a little over anxious, will sit out the next 4 to 5 weeks and if the feeling continues will return to the GP.

All the best with your healing. best of healing thoughts to you
