Cramping After Hysterectomy? You gotta be kidding me!?
So, I'm 5 weeks post-op TAH with tubes and cervix removed. Kept both ovaries. It really feels like I'm cramping. I'm not sure how I'm cramping with no uterus or cervix, or tubes....but it **** straight feels like cramps. This really sucks. I had a hysterectomy because of horrible cramps from endometriosis. Any ladies experience this?

I also had cramps like that. I was told it was all the muscles healing and trying to get back in shape after not using them for so long. I used a heating pad and it helped a lot. I hope that helps and u feel better soon

I've cramped all week quite similar to menstral cramps. I think it must be all the muscles just cringing inside from recent trauma

Gas pains can feel a lot like cramping too. I know you are further in your healing that I am.
I think it takes us months to really heal and have everything settle where it belongs now.
I just saw you have an endo diagnosis. Did they excise ALL of the endo? Was any left behind?

Cramping After Hysterectomy? You gotta be kidding me!?
Thanks ladies. It feels like it's over my right ovary. I know it has a cyst but I didn't expect the cramping.

Yes! I've had everything removed and have been cramping off & on since the procedure. It really hurts when I do too much!

Re: Cramping After Hysterectomy? You gotta be kidding me!?
For me, I think the cramping is from the ligaments that held the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus/cervix because they were cut and cauterized, and now they are healing.
It's like I'm having menstrual cramps, but there's nothing there!

Re: Cramping After Hysterectomy? You gotta be kidding me!?
Hey there! I'm from Atlanta, GA., one week post-op and I'm 46 yo. I had everything removed except the ovaries and even had a cavity b/n vag wall and rectum closed. I was doing ok for about 3 days then the horrendous cramping began. Mine was happening every five minutes. Excruciating. Per my doctor's advice I am NOT taking milk of magnesia because it actually gas (pains) and I'm taking two Aleve twice per day and two Tylenol in between there. The thing that has helped the very most was sitting on a hot pad ALL day today. It reduced the cramping to only once per hour. I am sooo thankful! It's amazing how heat can reduce cramping. I was doubting it would help but I was wrong. Going back to the Milk of Magnesia, when the cramps started sometimes they were associated with gas trying to zig zag through my angry intestines and other times no gas. So, i don't know about you but I pretty much overdosed (I'm exaggerating) on laxatives Colace stool softeners and then had diarrhea yesterday. My doctor said a lot of patients tend to do that hoping to take the horrible cramping away. She said for me to take Miralax only once per day unless I'm really constipated to get back on my regular "routine". Now, I can almost distinguish between this rectal cramping which is awful (but will reduce with hot pad and time) and gas pain (which is sharp too but kind of zigzags on it's way out). So, I'll continue with an anti-gas pill and no gaseous foods and I'll continue Miralax and I'll be sitting on this hot pad for days! Btw, my four kids were worth it!!!

Re: Cramping After Hysterectomy? You gotta be kidding me!?
I am a month and 7 days out from my hysterectomy-everything was removed-ovaries, tubes, uterus, cervix. due to hyperplasia with atypia and my age, 57. The healing process has been steady but slow..some days I felt great, other days very tired. One day I went for a walk, when I came back and sat down for awhile, I started cramping just like period cramps except no period, took some advil which helped and the cramping subsided,. some days I still have the cramping, but not as bad. It has to be the healing process of muscle and nerve endings filling up the space that used to be there.
