When were you able to sit up for longer periods without pain?

I will be 4 weeks post op in Tuesday and I am wondering when I will be able to sit up for longer periods of time without feeling pain? I sat up for about an hour straight last night and then I was in pain the rest of the night. I want to start doing some normal things again, but many involve being able to sit without having to pay for it with pain later.

Re: When were you able to sit up for longer periods without pain?

I'm 6 weeks out and I still have pain after sitting for longer periods of time. I'm ok if I sit with my feet up, but regular sitting is no good for me.

Re: When were you able to sit up for longer periods without pain?

I am 6 wks post op. It has gotten better , but I still have a problem if I sit in any position too long. I also notice if I am standing or up and about for a long time I get sore also.
I usually have to lay down for 10-15 mins a couple times through out the day to get my pep back.
I start back to work tomorrow. I work with toddlers, so resting is not an option. I hope I can find a comfortable place on my lunch break.

I remember being pretty sore still at 4wks, so compared to now it does get better.

Re: When were you able to sit up for longer periods without pain?

I'm just starting into my 5th week and I'm now about 1/2 my time w/o pain or meds. If I walk a lot it returns but getting better it seems each day. But if I have pain, I need to listen and cut back my activity.

Re: When were you able to sit up for longer periods without pain?

I found the first couple of weeks, I really needed to change my position. I would move from a recliner, to a couch, to a kitchen chair. The only time I really had pain was when we went out to a nice dinner with some visiting friends a little over 2 weeks post-op. It was the first time I spent over an hour on a hard chair, and that was tough.

Re: When were you able to sit up for longer periods without pain?

My recliner with my feet up (and down) has been my best seat nice and comfy. Hard chairs for short times only. Even car seats for only short rides.

Re: When were you able to sit up for longer periods without pain?

I've been able to sit at my desk in a typing chair for maybe half a day but it wears on me. The car seat is still a tough ride. Couch reclined with pillow under my knees is still the best.
