Asthma and coughing
I'm at my 4 week mark and was starting to feel great til today. Cedar pollen is extremely high so I've started to wheeze which causes me to cough...I have deep coughs. This has put more strain on my stomach in a whole new way. I hold the pillow against it but my coughs can last weeks and if it turns to bronchitis which it normally does I'm doomed. Suggestions. I took my prescription cough med but it doesn't work anymore since I've taken it for so many years.

Re: Asthma and coughing
Bless your heart.😔 That's gotta be hard cause I know what our abdominal muscles feel like at this time. They on some days feel like they show up more than usual, healing different. I so know what a few coughs felt like back a fee weeks ago in my journey. And now wouldn't feel much better. I wish u well! The pillow sounds like a comfort tool and possibly heating pad for soreness after. Keep on top of it and dr informed. It could become more uncomfortable.

Re: Asthma and coughing
I dont have asthma but I am recovering from a nasty cold at a little over two weeks post op. It really set me back! Holding my pillow over my stomach really helped when I did those big killer sneezes. I used my heating pad too for sore stomach muscles. Hugs!

Re: Asthma and coughing
I don't suppose you could live for a month in one of those dust mask things ... sort of a weird suggestion, but hey this is post-surgery, and sometimes weird suggestions are the only ones that work.
Has your doctor said anything about what they would do if your asthma reared its head ... ?

Re: Asthma and coughing
The mask would be a good idea except I get the feeling of an asthma attack when I have it on. I couldn't even wear a veil over my face at my wedding for the same reason. When my body is stressed I get bronchitis had it for my wedding and when I delivered my daughter. They did give me the pneumonia shot before I left the hospital after surgery because they were worried.
