hematoma and infection post-op

I had my surgery the week before X-mas because of large uterine fibroids (the largest one was grapefruit size) now I am back in the hospital and scared to death. I have a large hemtoma that they are now afraid is infected. I have been throwing up for over a week (why I went to the hospital) and have a fever despite being on very strong antibiotics. Now they are talking about putting a needle in it and draining it. I am in so much pain and so tired of being sick. Anyone have experience in this area? Any advice or encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: hematoma and infection post-op

Nay

I am sorry to hear you have an infected hematoma.

If you do a search you will see several threads on them. I know there are some sisters who currently have them, hopefully they will stop by.

Here is a post op article on them that might give you more information.
