Change in taste 5 weeks post hysterectomy
For the last 10 or so years I've had what I call my "CRAZY" time. It occurs every 30 to 45 days or so. I have anxiety for a few days and my taste changes. Water tastes metallic and I can't tolerate salt. My family Dr. thought it must be hormonal, my Gyn. didn't know. Thought the hysterectomy would take care of it, but a month post surgery, got it again. Very depressing. I'm 64 and had a total hysterectomy due to ovarian cyst. Any ideas? I don't know where to turn.

Re: Change in taste 5 weeks post hysterectomy
Hello Debbie
I am sorry to hear that you have this taste change going on. There is the possibility that any changes occurred due to the IV saline or even meds that you might have been taking. However, since you are noticing these same things again it could very well be hormonal or possibly the nervous system.
Have you had hormone and thyroid testing done yet or even a whole panel to see if you might have an nutritional deficiencies like Vitamin B12 or zinc? Create a journal of everything that you notice or experience that way you have feedback when speaking with your doctor/s (even GP).
Please let us know what they say sweetie!

Thanks for your reply. This situation has me so confused. I have had thyroid testing but not hormone. I am going to mention this at my follow-up appointment with my surgeon on Thursday. As I stated, this has been going on for years and I thought the surgery would take care of it.
