Gas pains 24 hours post hysterectomy

Where do you feel them? When I breathe I feel them from right mid back to right upper back on shoulder. It's been 24 hours since surgery. I took 2 Gas X.

That's where I felt them as well. The gas pain is worse than the post op pain. Take more Gas-X, I lived on it the first week! It really helps. It gets better I promise! :-)

Once you are able to get up and walk around it will help. Gas x is still my friend a couple times a week.

Mine struck about 4 days post op. I did some research in here and it has something to do with the CO2 gas that they use being colder than your normal body temp and some other stuff I can't remember at the moment. Big help for me was getting a wedge for my bed and not laying flat. Mine felt like a knife right between the shoulder blades. Take your gas X and take your pain meds. It will really help.

Walking helps immensely! I had a cycle of getting up to empty my bladder, walking laps down the halls and around the nurses station, then going back to my room for a rest. I plan on following the same routine at home!

Had is the worst! Our at least close to. In addition to what has already been mentioned some mint tea can be great, just don't over do it because it can slow down your digestion and that'll hurt in the long run. You can also put a chunk of fresh ginger in your mouth. Give it a couple chews and then stick it in the corner off your mouth like nicorertte. Walking is a beautiful thing!

GAS! I would be happy if I never heard that word again. I think the gas is the worst part about having a hysterectomy. I felt "Normal" when the gas would let up a little. I still have gas and its been 25 days since my surgery. I think we all should invest in Gas X because it's definitely our friend after surgery

After doing some research, i found out that it can take up to 16 days for the gas to completely leave your system... I still have gas pain and I am 10 days post op..

Gas pains suck! The nurse told me to lay on my left side, and bring top leg slightly forward. That position is supposed to make it easier to get the gas out.
