Re: 5 weeks post hysterectomy: Emotional

Post hysterectomy can be an emotional roller coaster. You didn't tell us anything about your surgery, so it's hard to know what to tell you.

If you didn't keep your ovaries, you've been thrown into surgical menopause, and if you were not approaching menopause, the sudden loss of hormones can be emotional overload. You may want to explore HRT or natural remedies to balance your hormones. Even if you kept one or both ovaries, they could be "off line" for a while due to blood supply being compromised or the trauma of surgery. That should be temporary, though if you're having other signs of menopause your doctor might prescribe something temporary to get you by until your ovaries take over again.

If youve kept your ovaries, you may continue to ovulate & w the cycle, its possible to continue PMS moods. If ovaries have a reduced function or have been removed then then the lack of estrogen causes menopause symptoms.

If you can take soy, try it 2xs a day or ask your Dr for recommendatiins.
