worried about sex

Yesterday I had my 6 week check up after TVH. I was looking forward to resuming sex with my husband. The doctor said that I can resume activity but that it may be tender and that my husband should be careful how far he inserts. During the exam it was very uncomfortable, and then the doctor said see how tender that is, that is why I said to be careful how far he inserts. He said that the area takes longer than 6 weeks to heal.
I am now terrified to have sex. Today I am still a little sore inside from my exam. I was wondering if any one else had this? How long does it take before it stops hurting?

Hi Donna!

Just because your doctor has released you for sex doesn't mean you have to do it. If you don't feel ready and if you are still hurting or feeling tender, wait longer until you are ready. We don't all heal at the same rate and aren't all ready to resume having intercourse when the doctor gives the okay. My husband and I waited several more weeks after the doctor's clearance. There's nothing wrong with that.

Hopefully a little more time to heal is all that you'll need to feel ready.

I'm sending s!

i got the clearance this week also. 'tried' it, with plenty of lubrication. i was expecting the worse because i too was sore from exam. BUT...it was ok. we didn't actually 'finish' or intend to, this was just a 'let's see' run. if you can ask the hubby to go into it 'playfully' this way, there is no disappointment (so to speak) if thinkgs don't go well. my husband had a hard time (no pun intended) because he was so worried about me, so things went slower and softer than usual, so maybe this will happen to you too. i am actually not 'scared' now, when we will actually follow through. best of luck.

I actually waited a little over 8 weeks and at that point used plenty of k-y and took it really slow. It was worth the wait.
Good Luck.

I has a similar 7 wk exam. Everything healed, it just "kind of hurt". Of course Doc was in there with the speculum with light attached and a really long Q tip.... He told me the same things, take it slow, it might be tender, don't get too vigorous too soon.

We used plenty of foreplay and lubrication. DH was very slow and gentle. It was just a bit tender at first. The next time was better.

Take it easy, don't rush things. You can always satisfy each other in other ways until you're ready for intercourse. Relax and have fun exploring. Enjoy each other.
