Ovaries and Adeno

I was (finally) diagnosed as having Adeno and some small fibroids. Doc and I had been discussing quality of life even before the diagnosis. Had pretty much made up my mind to keep ovaries, but was reminded that often there is Endo along with the Adeno. From reading here, I know with Endo it's better to take the ovaries.

Has anyone had Adeno and kept their ovaries? Have you had any problems since? I'd really rather keep them if they look ok, but what will my odds be of having Endo kick in afterwards?

Sorry for rambling, but darn it! I had studied what I thought were all the ins and outs....this was one thing I hadn't considered.

Thanks,
Cat

Ovaries and Adeno

Endo can be diagnosed with laprascopy- could you have this done to see if you actually have endo? Or, alternatively, when he operates could he look to see if there's any endo before he removes the ovaries?

My friend was diagnosed with adeno after surgery. She kept her ovaries and was fine.

I don't know how old you are, but if you are fairly young, I think taking the ovaries without any evidence of endo is not a good reason to take them out.

Ovaries and Adeno

Wachusett,

I'll be *gasp* 45 on Sunday. Doc says I'm "borderline" for keeping or taking.

My feelings are running towards having him leave them if he sees no evidence of endo.

Ovaries and Endometriosis

I found some info .... This may help you in your decision ....

What Is Endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a gynecological condition in which tissue that normally only lines the inside of the uterus (the endometrium) grows inside the pelvis or abdomen. Although endometriosis may affect many organs, it most commonly grows on the ovaries and behind the uterus. Endometriosis can be painful in-and-of-itself, and endometriosis can lead to the formation of scar tissue (adhesions) inside the pelvis and abdomen, which can also cause pain. Additionally, adhesions from endometriosis can lead to problems with infertility.

Ovaries and Adeno

I had Adeno.. which is all contained within the muscle wall of the uterus. I also kept my ovaries. Adeno doesnt return because of keeping the ovaries because of where the disease manifests. Adeno strictly stays inside of the uterine muscle and once the uterus is gone.. so is the adeno.
