How much bleeding is normal post op?

I am 6 days post op. LAVH cervix and ovaries gone.
First, where does the blood come from?? is it just seeping through the tissue or sutures??

I hardly bled at all the first few days
Now Everytime I stand up get a small gush of bright red blood.
Normal??
I think part of it might be because I am was taking aspirin for pain, I am sensitive to ibrophren and tynenol does nothing for me.
I am stopping aspirin as of last night.
Really just mild occasional crampy like pain and really feel good
I also get gushes whenever I pee.

Thanks

How much bleeding is normal post op?

Hi sle,
We are all a little different in how much or how little bleeding there is. Some don't have any bleeding after the first few days and others will have some bleeding for weeks.
I think you need to call your dr and ask about this just to be safe. It sounds a little scary when you say it gushes. I think I know what you mean, but usually I would think a trickle would describe things better. Please call and let us know what you find out.

How much bleeding is normal post op?

sle,

Get off the aspirin. Aspirin is an anti-coagulent(sp.). It will make your blood thin out.

Try taking aleve. It will less likely bother you.

Call you Dr. as well just to give him the head's up.

Take care.

I know what you mean. I had absolutely nothing for a week and then it came in gushes for 2 days before going back to a trickle for another 4 1/2 weeks. Best to check with the Dr - I was still in the castle when it happened to me.
Good Luck

How much bleeding is normal post op?

I am 4 weeks post-op (LAVH). Till 3 days ago I had red blood coming out enough for about 4 pantyliners a day. I phoned my doctor and he said, that bleeding till 6 weeks after is okay.

Now it looks greyish and it smells a little. I have some pain, but no feever and one stitch came out.

I too wonder where the blood comes from, because the stitches outside from the laproscopy are out already two weeks and it has completely healed. Why does it not heal inside the same way?
