Here I go again

Well I am scheduled for surgery August 4th. I have been here before. I had a cold cone biopsy done for cervical cancer. I only have about 30% of my cervix left. During that surgery they found a mass. Turned out to be 4 cups of water stored up in a blocked tube, so another surgery done 6 weeks later to remove my right tube. Now 11 yrs later after alot more problems, mostly having my period for the last 16 months, I find out that I have what could be the beginning stages of uterine cancer. So my dr. is hoping to do a laproscopic removal of my uterus and cervix, but because of scar tissue and a hernia by my belly button, she isn't sure if she will be able to. She is hoping to leave my ovaries and one tube in. She won't know till she goes in.

My question is what to expect? How long? For some reason I am alot more nervous, scared this time around than last time. I just turned 43 a few weeks ago. I have no children, that is how I found out about my problems 11 yrs ago. I miscarried, they ran tests and found out all the problems.

thank you for any replies and advice.

Re: Here I go again

brudeb67,

First ! Glad you found us and hope you can get all your questions answered.

Nervous and scared are normal, you are not alone. Please take your time to read through the resources offered here. Not knowing what type of surgery you will be having makes it more difficult to plan and prepare. With my laparoscopic hyster I only spent one night in the hospital and could take care of myself pretty well once I got home. That wouldn't have been the case with a TAH, The hospital stay is longer as are the restrictions. Most women are in the hospital for several nights and can use some help once they get home after abdominal surgeries.

Sorry you are dealing with these issues, Hopefully the hyster will solve your problems and you will be a new women without 16 months of bleeding. Please keep us posted and feel free to ask all your questions. We've been there.
