decision made (yeah)

I wanted to thank all who responded to my post. Horse Woman's idea about making a list with the pros and cons of hysterectomy did it for me. I realized that the only cons were the problems that could possibly occur. I reasoned with myself that hey, I could possibly get hit by a bus but it doesn't stop me from crossing the street. With that in mind it made no sense not to have a hyster. I also wanted to let all those know who are agonizing over the hyster. decision that once it's made you feel elated. My surgery is scheduled December 27 (hopefully the insurance won't mess this up) and I'll keep everyone posted. I'm sure I'll have numerous questions over the next six weeks so everyone will hear from me. This is a fantastic website!!! Doctors should give out this address to all their hyster patients.

Thanks again,
Melanie

Hi Mel!

Congratulations on making your decision and being happy about it! For many women, that's the first hurdle!

So glad you came here to Hyster Sisters. I keep saying this, but I'll say it again - if it weren't for this site, I never would have gone through everything so smoothly. My sisters have nourished me with so much 'food for thought' and so much priceless information and experience sharing - I knew nothing about this surgery before I came here. Now I certainly don't know it all, but I am so much more comfortable with all aspects of my hysterectomy than I would have been.

One thing that didn't occur to me until kinda late is that there are so many posts, you can only see the most recent ones on a page, but at the bottom of the page, you can go back to prior postings and threads -- there's a world of info and insight on those, too!

Anyway, thanks for letting us know your good news and we'll look forward to hearing how everything goes for you from here.

Melanie. I am glad you were able to come to a decision that you will be happy with. I didnt have to make a list of pros and cons because it was either have this surgery or be miserable until I reached menopause. I know lots of ladies are trying to come to grips with what to do. My only regret is that I didnt do it 2 years ago when I started having all my problems. I am almost at my 6 month mark and I am doing great! Feel free to ask any questions you may have. Those of us who have "been there and done that" will be glad to help!
Stay positive and think of how much better you will feel when all this is over. All the waiting and wondering is the worst part.
Take care!!!

?

I too am having a problem making a decision. Why were you NOT wanting a hysto? How did you make up your mind? I'm so happy that your decision made you fell good. You know that it is the right choice when you feel good about it.

To Firecat: search on Melpoche ... she posted about her difficulty in making the decision a couple of days ago. You should be able to find the tread that way.

Mel,

Glad to hear you feel good about your decision and that you have your surgery date. Although it's definitely better to have made a decision, the waiting is tough. Maybe it's a good thing that you'll have holiday things to take your mind off the surgery.

Horsewoman's pro/con list was great ... even though I've made my decision, I'm thinking about writing up my list for those days when I feel good and wonder why I'm doing this ...!

Best of luck,
Beth

Good for you!!! You have a fantastic attitude!!!! I totally agree with you... Mine is scheduled for December 3rd... I am just worried about recovery now... And how to handle it with my 10 month old daughter... She is so used to me picking her up all the time... So I know it will be a difficult few weeks but it WILL be smooth sailing after that!!!

Take Care!

Hi Mel
Congrats on your decision. I know the difficulties of making the hysto decision - I just scheduled my surgery yesterday (for 1/29 -- I'm a retail manager attempting to make it through the holiday season) and am excited, scared, relieved, anxious and glad to have found Hyster Sisters.

Best Wishes!!!
