Re: Pain

I had a TAH BSO and I was not pain free until after 4 weeks post op. The first two weeks, I was watching the clock for the next time I could take the pain pill. My third and fourth week were not as bad.

As the other sisters said, it just takes time. Make sure, though, that your pain is manageable. If it is not, you need to talk to your doc about getting something different or stronger. Too much pain will interfere with your healing.

Healing hugs...

Re: Pain

I'm on day 12 of DaVinci and while I was doing great all day, no meds, the way I manged to over do it today was laughing too hard for too long, back to the Motrin 800 and today I decided to mix it up and take a couple of Tyl 3's, I 've got so much medication in my house, some down by my chair, some up next to my bed, that way I'm never without in the middle of the day or night in case I need it, I still take Percocet at night. Walking helps the gas, as does a good back rub, my husband had to do those for me for the first couple of days. Gax X or any gas med will help and the stool softeners as long as you are still taking the narcotics, which I am so 2-3 a day as needed. I'm trying to bump up the fiber a bit, oatmeal, grapes, a tangerine and of course tons of water. I had days where the only walking I did was back and forth to the bathroom I was drinking so much! I still have so much pain from the BM's they have me doubled over, wish those would stop! I'm so glad we all have this forum to talk about this stuff, my husband doesn't want to hear it at all not that I blame him. Like everyone else says, it just takes time and being aware that it's a huge thing that just happend to your body. You will feel better day by day, hang in there.

Re: Pain

I feel for you - that gas pain can really become overwhelming. I was given peppermint tea to drink, which along with back & shoulder rubs from family really helped. My thoughts are with you x
