Did you want visitors?
Hello!! First time posting - I hope I am doing on the right page. My TAH is scheduled for Thursday morning. I am actually looking forward to it - strange I know. I'm just looking forward to it being behind me, and being able to see how I feel afterwards. Anyway, I feel like I want to have my friends and family cycle through and keep me company. My husband will be home with me for the first 2 weeks, but I thought maybe some girl talk and silly gossip will help my spirits in recovery. Were you wanting people to be around? Or were you too uncomfortable to want the company? Thanks!!

Re: Did you want visitors?
I just had my procedure on this Thursday and I also was looking forward to it and glad it is behind me. My daughters prom was yesterday though and quite a few family members came to see her off and check in on me. I know they meant well, but I was miserable. I am still retaining a lot of gas from procedure and just wanted to be in my bed with as little clothes on as possible. I was exhausted after the 2 hours. I have asked people to let me get through the first week except for my very close girlfriends, especially the ones who have been through this. They are great support and they don't care if I fall asleep on them or wince in pain. Other than that, my supportive husband and daughters are all I have the energy for right now. But I'm sure that will change as I feel better and more mobile and social. Best to you this Thursday!

No I didn't really want visitors, except for my husband, children, my mum (she insisted) and a couple of close friends, in the first couple of weeks.
I just didn't feel like being socialable

Re: Did you want visitors?
For the first few weeks I didn't want anyone but my immediate family and one close friend. They understood when to leave, they realized they were also there to help and they were the ones who I knew would be giving me support. I didn't want anyone around who would trivalize what I had gone thru. Or someone who would spend the visit overwhelming me with their problems. Play it by ear on how you are feeling.

Re: Did you want visitors?
I did not want visitors. The first week was painful with a lot of gas, bathroom issues and discharge. I was not able to sit more than a few minutes and couldn't handle any clothes around my waist. Sleeping and tv and my family was plenty company. Each week was a little better. When I did have visitors I felt relieved when I was alone again. I found it to be a difficult surgery physically and emotionally.

I wasn't ready for a couple of weeks, I was too uncomfortable and wanted to just sit. My mind was kind of dull! After a couple weeks, yes

Re: Did you want visitors?
I was the same as many on here. Nobody needed to hear the farting (and there was no holding it in as it hurt) that first week and I pretty much slept a lot. Second week, just a few visits. Showering and getting dressed for visitors was tiring but it was good to have the odd person pop in. You do get tired though and resting is the best thing for recovery but at the same time you are supposed to walk. Maybe ask then to walk with you, someone to chat to takes your mind off any twinges while walking. Anyway you will know when the time comes what you feel like and people won't mind you putting them off a day or so if necessary. Some days I just didn't feel like seeing people other days I was crawling up the wall for company. This tended to match my good and bad days, not that surprising I guess. Anyway remember to rest and do what suits you at the time. Best of luck.

Re: Did you want visitors?
I didn't want Anyone coming by. I had my Husband and kids here to help and honestly didn't feel like putting on a "happy face" for company. I felt cruddy and slobby so I didn't want anyone seeing me like that Lol
