I want a showering I feel dirty. Can I shower

Give your doctor's office a call. Most doctors do allow you to shower within a couple of days even with stitches or staples. I was told to let the water run over my incision but not to let the water strike it directly or get it soaked. However, there are always exceptions like RebeccaAnne's doctor.

I was "encouraged" the morning after my abdominal hysterectomy to shower. Just try not to get the incisions wet. If you do, dry immediately.

I showered the day after tah while still in the hospital. Then put on a night gown from home.I felt soooo much better. Just let the soap and water run over the incision then gently pat dry.

Maybe the nurse said no to take a bath for 2 weeks I know there totally against having baths for up to 4 weeks after but I've never heard them say don't take a shower you feel so much better after a shower it's makes you feel so much better I couldn't wait to have my shower

I had my op on Friday, came home Saturday and had my 1st shower on the Sunday, my husband was near bye and I let the shower spray hit my back I kept it away from my small 4 cuts. It made me feel so much better and once your dry and have clean nightdress on, I had a little nap. You will find it tires you but you feel much better for it

I was encouraged to shower the day after surgery at the hospital. Just not to let water hit incisions and to pat dry. After I got home used hair dryer on low setting to dry them. A shower does wonders for how you feel

Thank you all for your replies. I am going to take a shower today...I need it badly. Yes I begged the DR to let me go home the next day after my abdominal surgery. I have twin 3 year olds that missed me very much and I couldn't get any sleep in the hospital. I feel much better re-cooping at home.

I had my tah on 2/20/14 and the nurse said i could get a shower the next day.i also have staples and getting a shower hasnt had any affect at all.except it made me feel better.you should definatly have someone there w you thou!hope this helps.
