Surgery tomorrow..and a surprise at preop

Hi all. I'm having a lap hyster tomorrow after "conscious pain mapping" for pelvic pain (had for 10 yrs now). Depending on the pain mapping I may have my left ovary and left tube out too. I have had endo (all lasered of tho).

Well.. I had preop today (the day before surgery!) and we talked about my cervix. He asked about paps.. and I told him I had abnormal ones about 10 yrs ago and a colposcopy but they didn't find cancerous cells. He looks at my chart and through some mixup. I haven't had a PAP since 2000.. or if I did it's lost. I thought my reg dr did them but maybe he was just looking for infection or something.. I don't know.

We talked at length and we decided to take the cervix out. I'm a bit stressed at having this new development. I have a gut feeling it's right to do but I'm worried how I will feel afterwards?

I'm ready to do this but I really have a case of nerves right now.

Also we decided to do a morphine pump in the hospital for pain.

(wringing my hands nervously)

Kim

Surgery tomorrow..and a surprise at preop

I will have my preop the day before surgery also, and that worries me as well, hoping for no surprises!
I wont see my doc until surgery day, I am just assuming that we are taking everything.
I will be thinking about you tomorrow, I know you will do great. We will be here when you get back!

Surgery tomorrow..and a surprise at preop

Because of my Endo the Dr said it all goes and that includes the cervix. He said he wouldn't be doing me any favor by saving it. The endo has sort of decided to glue it self to that and a few other things inside. Good luck! See ya on the other side Kim Halloweenie

Surgery tomorrow..and a surprise at preop

I had everything out and have had no problems. The cervix was just one more thing that I am happy not to have to worry about. It was removed because I had a LAVH but my DR said that her would have removed it in any case. I am at the 6 week post-op point and everything looks just great.

Good luck and best wishes

Surprises suck! They catch you so off guard, don't they? They cause you to have that feeling. After the adrenaline wears off, and you are thinking clearer, maybe you can resolve it in your mind so that you don't feel so much like the rug was pulled out from underneath you. Are you OK with what the doctor proposes?

Hugs,
Heidi
