FMLA question

There must be at least 50 employees for an employer to be required to grant protected leave under the FMLA.

FMLA guidelines allow an employer to require employees to take FMLA leave - regardless of accrued leave or short/long term disability. Some employers are nice enough to start the FMLA leave whenever accrued leave begins, others have it start at the beginning of your leave. FMLA regs only require consistency - it does not set a policy regarding paid leave.

The key here is what your doctor signs off on - be it 4, 6, 8 or 12.

Yes, FMLA only covers organizations with 50 or more employees

(Sort of like EEOC laws; the FMLA doesn't really cover the people who need it)
