Back in My Jeans

Hi All,

I'm so happy because I have been back in my fat jeans (skinny jeans are a way off yet) since late last week! Whoo Hoo! Swelly belly really does get better. I thought this day would never come. Now, I can wear sweats when I want to, not because I have to. Love it!

Congratulations! I'm 4 weeks out and still in exercise pants and drawstring pj bottoms. Good to know that one day the swelly belly really does fade away!

I expected to be in sweats for six weeks, but I'm sort of getting the impression I may still need "loose fitting" pants when I go back to work after Jan. 1. Is that right? Those of you who have been down this path? If so, I'd better start looking for some - all of my jeans and pants were slightly snug before my surgery, so I guess it may be quite a while yet before I can get them back on. It is nice to know that eventually swelly belly does go away! For now (two weeks post op) I am still actually enjoying wearing sweats every day. But I guess eventually I'm going to wish to expand more wardrobe!

Awesome Wen! Me too I had my surgery on the 12th and today I put my jeans on and went to get an allergy shot. Looked a little full in the front but I think Ive gained a couple of pounds not doing much. Keep up the shrinking the skinnys are just around the corner!

Bloominb, I was in sweats for just over 11 weeks. It was so frustrating because I didn't expect it. I had two pairs that fit. I had only gained one pound since they weighed me the day before surgery, and yet couldn't even begin to zip my jeans without crying and feeling horrible about myself. I think swelly belly needs to be explained in detail to every woman having a hysterectomy before they have it, just so we can be prepared. Anyway, I have heard it can take up to 6 months for swelly belly to go away. So yeah, maybe plan on 6 months of swelling and then when it goes away in a few weeks, you'll be super happy and surprised like I am. Best of luck and happy healing!
