Surgery Tuesday

Hey y'all from the land of Texas!

I've been contemplating this surgery for the last month and have my pre-op appt. at 11A this morning and surgery scheduled for Tues. 11/11.

I was visited by "Aunt Flo" this past 7th! What a send-off for her! lol

I'm going to have a TVH secondary to severe cervical dysplasia related to HPV. I'm done with kiddos and elected this option.

The thing I am *most* scared about is: losing my cervix! Is that silly?!?

I'm just SOOOOOOOOOOO scared that I am going to "lose" my orgasms!!!! I looove deeeep penetration and the feeling of my cervix being jarred which leads to uterine contractions.

I watched Oprah about a year ago and saw 2 female doctors from Boston (the Bermans) discuss female sexual dysfunction and they talked a LOT about their theories about hysterectomies read link here: http://www.newshe.com/articles/artic...p?articleid=12 and I've never forgotten it.

Does anyone have any insight to share with me?

i can only give you my experience and that would be: everythings in working order.

I am 7 weeks post op TAH/BSO, everything went including cervix. I can tell you from my own expierence that I have NO problem in the sex department, it is all good. Some women opt to keep the cervix if healthy for lubrication pruposes, not a problem for me I have more than enough without the cervix. Also, my big "O" is better than before because I have no pain associated with it any longer.

What you need to keep in mind is everyone is diffenent and every op is different and preformed for different reasons. I suggest you talk with your gyn to see if keeping your cervix is an option and discussing the pros and cons based on your history with YOUR doc.
