Nerve Pills???????

My "Grand Opening" is Monday morning @ 7:30. I think I am going to need something for my nerves though. Have any of you had to have something called in? If so, what?

Also, any advice for the day leading up to my "Grand Opening"?

Thanks!

Nerve Pills???????

Hi,
You can call your doc, but generally I was told not to take medications other than Tylenol (might interfere with anesthesia, etc.). I know exactly what you are going through. My surgery was about a week ago. I thought I would climb the walls waiting and being sooo nervous.
I was told not to take herbal supplements, diet pills, etc. even up to two weeks before surgery. BUT, call your doc first, and see what they say.
Praying for you,
LCP

Nerve Pills???????

I am sure loads of us went through the "nerve" thing before surgery...the waiting is the hardest part! Call your Dr. and tell him how you feel! There are several things he could give you. I have had valium and ativan before surgeries...both worked. As for the last day...do whatever you want! Relax! Have your favorite meal! Whatever makes you happy! Good luck!

Nerve Pills???????

Hi, I just talked to my doctor about this today. He said if I was really nervous the day of the surgery, they could give me something to calm me down. I also have oxazapam (sp?) which is a mild sedative I use to help me sleep on occasion. He even said I could take one of those the morning of my surgery.

Just ask your doctor if you think you'll need something to calm down. I'm sure he can order something for you. Lots of people do this, and I think I'm going to be in the same boat.

Best of luck to you!

Nerve Pills???????

At my pre-op, my doc said that as soon as I get to the hospital, I can ask for something to calm my nerves. I think I just might need it. Did you go over anything like that at your pre-op? Until then, I am just trying to remain calm by breathing, praying and playing with my kids.

It's tough, especially as the time grows near. I find myself saying silly things like 'this is my last wednesday before surgery, this is my last library trip before surgery, this is my last pizza before surgery..." Obviously, it's right there in the front of my mind...but I keep trying to push it back. Hang in there...we're almost there!

Hey A! I know what you mean! I have got to try to remain calm for my girls sake. It seems as thought my life has revolved around this hysterectomy every since I found out I needed one. I will be glad to get it over with!:hair:
