Ask Your Doc???

Maybe this is something you should ask your doc...I've been doing the Atkin's Diet and have lost ten pounds so far, but wouldn't recommend that to anyone else without their doc's approval...

When I go to the castle tomorrow, I am taking sweet tarts and chocolate with me....not exactly diet food...but my comfort foods And after all ...every deserves a royal treat now and then.....

I think you working out preop is great. I am addicted to my gym...although I don't look like it!

I plan to go back to the gym asap and do some biking and treadmill work....my doc says as soon as I feel up to it , give it a shot, but in SMALL doses.....

Working out and trying to get into better shape before surgery is a great idea - I did it too, and I think it made a difference. Even if you don't really improve a lot, you feel better emotionally because you work off a lot of stress tension!

I'd talk to the doctor before going on a diet- you don't want to accidentally deprive your body of something you need to help you during recovery.

for the moment, you might just cut out sweets and moderate your portions.

good luck! and keep up the good work on improving your health once you are recovered from surgery!

Five a day?

I've been losing weight over the past year but not by dieting.

I've just been following the Canada Food Guide, moderating portions, reducing fat and eating more fruits and vegetables -- most of the time.

I have occassional slips, which is fine as well since I'm not dieting and the occassional party is part of life.

Combined with regular exercise, it seems to work. To date, I've lost just over 50 pounds.

Good luck and congratulations on getting yourself ready for surgery. I'd started the process six months before I even knew what a fibroid was but my doctor tells me that since I've lost weight, lowered my blood pressure and become more fit, the surgery will be easier.

Keep well,
