Hi. I am a new member and just registered. I had my hysterectomy 2 weeks ago (17 days to be exact). I don't know if what I am feeling is normal. You have this surgery once, so it is hard to know what is normal. I still have tenderness around my incision, and I have what I would call pressure in my lower abdomen. It still feels a bit odd to go to the bathroom. I also get a frequent pain in my left side. I only had one ovary, and to be honest, I don't remember what side it was on, but I wonder if it was the left, if that would explain the pain. Does anyone relate to any of this? Please let me know. Thanks for listening. It will be great to hear from others who have experienced the same surgery.

Dear pklaps,

We are so glad to have you join us. At two weeks it is very normal to have these aches and pains. If you haven't already you should check out the Checkpoints that are found in the purple bar above. There is a lot of information and guidelines for each stage of your recovery. You can also read in the post op articles that are found in the drop down menu above and to the left and find information on many of the problems and questions you might have.
I hope you have an easy and quick recovery. Let us know when we can help.

's, Rita

Hello! My surgery was the day before yours!

My incision is still tender - the skin round it is a bit swollen and feels like sunburn...

Especially of an evening when i empty my bladder it feels odd - as if as it empties it is pressing down on something a bit tender (which it probably is)

wind can still feel very wierd moving about!

the last couple of evenings i've had a sensation on my right side below my belly button like some one pinging an elastic band against my skin - i guess it's nerves growing back together somewhere inside...

I guess most aches and pains that make you think ooh! (rather than shout it!) are normal

Hope this helps!

Take care

Chicky
