fever at 6 days post op! Help

Hi,

I was feeling pretty good...very pleased with my recovery. This afternoon, I felt like I was hit with a ton of bricks and I now have a fever around 101. I called the doctor about 7:00 and she told me to go to bed and take a tylenol. If I still have it, I need to go in. I'm so frustrated since I was feeling so well. I wonder what it could be.

I understand completely. Although, I wasn't feeling all that well until yesterday (7 days post-op), on day 6 with a low grade fever I noticed drainage from my TAH. It turns out I have an infection in the incision. Please go in because you don't want it to get worse! Good luck and it is very frustrating.

It is not uncommon to run a low grade fever after this kind of surgery. It can be from you body absorbing the old blood left inside after the surgery and also from the stitches that are inside. Its your bodys way of fighting off anything abnormal. I had a fever off and on for about 10 days or so after my surgery and my doc said not to worry if it stayed below 101. Just take tylenol and take it easy. If it went over 101 I was to call him, but it never did. I hope you are doing better real soon. Do let us know how you are doing and how the fever went.

Yup - Day 6 infection at incision & drainage started. I only had low grade fever too. Don't let it get going. See the dr.

Hi,

I don't have any redness or drainage, so hopefully I'm experiencing the same things as Moonflower. My doctor wants to see me tomorrow if it's not down. Thanks for your help! I'll keep you posted.
