Any post op TAH nurses out there?

Excellent! I also went for my 6 week check last week & my surgeon gave me another 6 weeks off due to the extensive nature of the surgery & the type of job I do. I gues we just have to remember we only have one chance to get this right so....anyway as I now feel much better physically & emotionally, I'm hoping to actually start enjoying the time at home!

had a TAH (removed everything) on 9/18/07 (the day before my 33rd B-day). I have a 2.5yr old and a heavy 1yr old. I had only 10 days of help and then I was on my own from 7am to 10/11pm M-F and 7a-6p on Saturdays. My husband works long hours and I am a stay-at-home Mom. Thus, I had to do a ton of lifting and didn't get much rest. It was hell, but I got through it. I didn't have 6wks to "recover". I only had 10 days. Today is my 6wk check-up. I have a little swelling left, by lower back aches by the end of the day and I am pooped out by 7pm. However, I am so happy that I have my strength/energy back and that the pain is gone. You have to do what is right for you and what your Dr. suggests. We all heal differently. Each week it gets better. Listen to your body. Hope this helps.

i cant even imagine what you have been through. you are a strong sister. I thought having a 10 month old puppy who has way to much energy and is a giant breed (weights 90lb) was bad. I bet your glad this is over. let us know how you make out today at your appt.

I went yesterday for my 6wk check up and the dr gave me another 2 wks off because of my job. I'm a nurse in the community who see's 10-12 clients a day with some lifting and transfering. My energy is coming back but not to do what would need to be done with my full time job.
