Heading to the Castle! (UPDATE: Home and Resting)

I'm off to the castle and am pretty worried, but also pretty tired from the lack of food and water, bowel prep (arrgh) and not sleeping so well last night. I have been putting this off for nearly a yr and have gotten opinions from 2 Drs that said I should get everything out so I'm forcing myself to be brave and just want to 'get 'er done!' Thank you for all your support and help these last weeks! I'll see you on the other side!

Re: Heading to the Castle!

Thank you for all your support- I am home and resting. Had a bit of a hard time the 2 nd day- just couldn't relax and was shaking so they gave me an anti-anxiety drug. Felt better & sent me home with some. A 16- wk uterus size, bladder wrapped around uterus so took a little longer. Baseball size cyst on l ovary. Sooooo glad it 's over & on to recovery...Don't know what I would have done without this site. Thank you for all your help!!

Re: Heading to the Castle! (UPDATE: Home and Resting)

I had my hysterectomy the same day as you. I'm curious how your feeling now? One second I feel great no pain then I get sharp stabbing pain. I'm sure it's normal but I'm kinda of a baby and need reassurance. Hope your recovering well.

Re: Heading to the Castle! (UPDATE: Home and Resting)

I too had my surgery on June 3. I have no pain at al (haven't had any since surgery)l, only soreness. My main problem is stomach issues. Every time I eat, my stomach hurts and swells. Today I woke up feeling really good and probably over did it a little. Now I'm fighting nausa. I never take meds so my system is probably wondering what the heck I've put into it. Other than the stomach issues and feeling a little tired, I think I'm doing really well, especially considering that my DvH took over five hours. I'm so grateful that my surgeon continued with DvH instead of switching to TAH, like I've read on here happens so often when things in there aren't as expected. I emailed him today to thank him for the extra work he did.

Re: Heading to the Castle!

Glad to hear that you are doing better. I am also scheduled to have Dvh on June 15th, am feeling a little anxious but I guess that is to be expected. Is there anything that you feel I should ask or be prepared for? I go for my pre-op on Friday.

Re: Heading to the Castle!

Tammie, just follow the advice on this site. I had everthing I needed at the hospital and at home because of suggestions here. My main advice to you is not to over think it. Relax. I spent my entire day before surgery pampering myself. I had qa wonderful workout, a pedicare, and a massage. I did not have to do bowel prep or anything special pre-op. My pre-op appointment was done over the phone. Things I was glad to have at the hospital were breath mints or hard candy, face wipes, and my tooth brush. Every thing else was pretty much taken care of. I also wanted my favorite bottled water. Today is day 4 post op and I am about 90% myself again. I feel like I did a really hard ab workout and I'm tired, but could easily cook a meal. I did a load of a laundry yesterday (removing them one piece at a time from the washer). I walked 1.25 miles this morning. The only restrictions I was given by my doctor was not to lift over 15 pounds and not to drive as long as I was taking prescription meds (which I stopped on Sunday). I had a wonderful surgeon who teaching robotic surgery world wide. I hope your DvH experience is a potivie one as well. Please let me know if I can answer any questions for you. Good Luck!
