TVH: how long in hosp?

I had a TVH and surgery went well... surgery was at 8 a.m. and I was discharged 2 days later at 7 p.m. Sent home with catheter because I was unable to urinate. So it totally varies on patient and hospital!! Good Luck and try to enjoy the holidays. Recovery is speedy though but make sure you don't over do it. I am out 10 days feel pretty good with not a lot of pain unless I am totally over doing it!! Good luck.

TVH: how long in hosp?

I had TVH on 12/14 @8am, in my room by 11am, urinated by 12 (my doctor doesn't put in a foley catheter, he staright caths after the surgery is done to drain the bladder. This is a catheter that is in, the urine drains, and they take it right out), I urinated 2 more times and was home by 7pm the same day. My doctor said it was my choice. I could stay overnight or go home. I chose to go! It was great to sleep in my own bed. He had explained to me pre-op that I would have to urinate, not vomit, and my temp/blood pressure etc had to be normal in order to leave the same day. I was glad that it was! Best Wishes to you on your trip to the castle.

TVH: how long in hosp?

I had my TVH on the 12th, had to be at the castle at 7:45am, surgery was at 10:15, went to recovery at 11:15, in my room at 12:30. I was on a morphine drip w/a button to medicate myself, until 8:30am Wed. after the morphine was stopped, they removed the catheter and I peed, several times due to the fluids being given through my IV, I knew I had to pass gas or I couldn't leave, so I did after about 3 trips to potty, then Dr.said he will let me go home in the am (Thursday) I was discharged by 10:am. So it was about 50 hours. I have learned that all hospitals & doctors are different on their release policys, and everyone has a different experience/reaction to surgery. With all that in mind, I hope that helps. Oh, and staying Wednesday night, without the catheter, and IV, was great...I got a good nights sleep. If I would have been given the option of going home on Wed. or Thur. it was best on Thur. Wish I could have longer, because DH does not get it that his hand fits the vacuum, not just mine. Yes, I vacuumed 2 times now and have payed for it. But DH is too, I moved into the spare bedroom until he can help me w/the house work, and it is just the 2 of us plus pets. I am a clean freak, and always up doing something, can't sit still for 5 minutes.
Merry Christmas to all!
