What does an 800 gram uterus size mean?

My doc said something about a typical uterus being 80 grams and mine is 800 grams. What does that mean? How big would that be? I hear people say they have a uterus that is like one of a so-many -month pregnant uterus. I'm wondering if this "always full" feeling and feeling like I have to use the restroom or the backache or leg aches have anyting to do with this???

What does an 800 gram uterus size mean?

I only remember from school that 1 gram = 2 paperclips in weight. So that'd be a lot of paperclips.

I would like to know this answer as well. I have lower back aches, leg aches, frequent urination, etc., also. I have no idea on size of mine but hope he'll guesstimate it at my pre-op on Monday. It'd sure be nice to have a smaller abdomen after swelly belly is gone.

What does an 800 gram uterus size mean?

All of the symptoms you ladies described are related to having a large uterus. Prior to my surgery I had a feeling of always being full and I experienced frequent urination. My doctor told me (and I read it in my surgery report) that my uterus was the size of a 20 week pregnancy.

What does an 800 gram uterus size mean?

My DR told me my uterus was the size of being 3-4 mths pregnant, and it sure shows on the outside. When he did a vaginal sonogram he showed me how big the fibroids were. I have been on this site for the first time tonight and have so many questions and concerns, mainly will sex ever be great with my husband again after the hyster??? I do not want to lose him because he is 9 years younger and I already feel old enough at 47 years old.

I would not worry for a minute about your husband - when you are feeling better things can only improve!

What does an 800 gram uterus size mean?

I had a 19 week uterus in July. It continued to grow up to my surgery. I will see the Path report tomorrow and know the 'end result'.

I had all the sensations you are refering to above. I also found clothes really fit different than they ever have. By the weeks ahead of my surgery, even though I had lost 20 pounds since Feb, my favorite jeans were too tight (I can wear them now!).

If you look at pregnancy sites, you probably will be able to find a comparison to your 800 gr uterus. As best I can tell, it looks like this is comparative to a 36 week uterus. So I would think your uterus might be putting all the stresses on your body that a near full term preg can.

Your date will be here before you know it. Hang in there.

I feel your pain...

I too have an enlarged uterus, full of fibroids. My doc said my uterus had enlarged to the size of a 22 week pregnancy! Up until the diagnosis and since, I have experienced the abdominal fullness you mentioned; with a decreased loss of appetite because of it. In addition to this, I have tremendous back pain, frequent urge to urinate, to include stress incontinence, gas problems and now I believe the fibroids are pressing on my bowels causing problems there. To give you an idea, a couple of weeks ago I was home (thank goodness) and thought I needed to pass gas (which has been a regular thing anymore), so I did. However, I passed more than gas, if you know what I mean. How humiliating! I felt like a little kid. Anyway, my hyst is scheduled for Nov. 13th (I can't wait!!) and my doc is giving me Lupron Depot injections to throw me in to menopause, therefore cutting off the estrogen which is feeding the fibroids. He says this will help shrink the fibroids some in hopes to be able to make a smaller incision on me. He's already told me that I have to have a vertical cut, but I think if he had to cut me right now, he would have to start the cut above my belly button. He wants to keep it below and so do I.

Bootsymacha, I wish you and all fellow Sisters on this posting the best in your surgery and recovery.
