Pre op sex

I found out I have fibroids and I have not had sex since. It has been 3 months. My partner and I finally decided to have sex after awhile and I started bleeding. I was pretty embarrassed . He made me feel safe, good although I was crying like a baby. What happened? Will I not be able to have sex until after the surgery? I want to feel normal.

Re: Pre op sex

Hi LARed

Poor you, glad your partner reacted well - try not to feel embarrassed, he was probably just enjoying being close to you. (TMI -Some men don't mind 'period' sex )

Were you due a period as the activity might have brought it on sooner. That happened to me once and I didn't have fibroids

It's probably worth another try - but be prepared eg wet wipes/tissues close by

If it does happen and you don't like it then maybe stick to outercourse for a while.

Is it long until your surgery?

Re: Pre op sex

Well we havent done it yet, but will in a couple weeks. I think its going to be amazing. I feel great and doc says i am healing perfectly. I have been very careful to rest rest rest, not lift or strain at all, just gentle walks. I will have to report back on that one i guess.

Re: Pre op sex

LARed,

I had a HUGE fibroid. There's no need to not have sex (check with your doc just in case though!) Did you have pain with this bleeding? Break through bleeding is apparently pretty common with fibroids and I know that once I bled around ovulation, which can also be a fibroid or a hormone issue. Call your doc just in case, but I really think this is due to fibroids...sounds too familiar!
