Help ?! Suggestions ?!

I am 36 yrs old, One Child by C Section 6 1/2 yrs ago, 1 adopted. I have not had a normal pap since my son was born. During my pregnancy I sprouted external genital warts (thanks to me EX). Since 95 I have had mild dysplasia, atypia and a growth in my cervix I have paps and colpos every 4-6 months!

In 11/98 after a colpo I bled for 3 weeks, and the doc found a growth (like a 2 ball snowman) in my cervix. 12/98 The doc did a leep and cut off 75% of the growth (determined to be normal skin tissue that was inflammed) In 1/99 the growth was bigger and the doc did a Cone of my cervix and removed the growth, which was later determined to be a fibroid in my cervix (rare according to the research I have made).

In 11/00 the docs found the growth back! getting bigger every 6 months and as of lst check 4 months ago it appeared to be leaning over on the opening of my cervix and partially closing it off.

2 months ago I had a vaginal ultra sound, no other growths noted, but afew shadows in my uterus. An Endo biopsy was down and they found that my endo tissue was "fluffy" (hormonial inbalance) ??!!

Now the doc contacted me and wants to do a hyster next month. i have preop scheduled for 8/28 to determine if they will be able to do it vaginal or thru my belly. Also in question is whether or not to take my ovaries ?!?! she says it is up to me.. I suffer from migraines (which happen to be worse at PMS and period time) I understand that hormone therapy is an option and actually might help with my headaches.. BUT.... Also cancer runs in the family... Any suggestions or info anyone can give me ?!?!? I have known this was coming but now that it is a reality I am very scared.

I also can not take 4-6 weeks off of work.. bills need to get paid and I work for a small company and I am needed behind the desk..

Thanks in advance!

Help ?! Suggestions ?!

I also suffered from menstrual migraines. I kept my ovaries, but did not have a family history of ovarian cancer. I have not had any migraines in almost 2 years.

HRT can be difficult to balance. Having a hormone level test prior to surgery can be very beneficial in determing what "normal levels" are for you.

My ovaries went into surgical shock following my surgery, my doctor prescribed Premarin for me to take until they kicked back in. I read the side effects, and one of the common ones was migraines. Needless to say, I did not take the HRT, and waited for my ovaries to "wake up."

You can do more research on HRT, at the Hormone Jungle. Read through the pull-down menus, there is a lot of good information there.
