Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 30-May 06,2012

If your hysterectomy was between Apr 30-May 06,2012 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads will be moved at approximately 8 weeks post-op to the Date Club forum inside the HysterSisters clubhouse.

  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!

  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

This thread has been set up for you all to come here update us on how your initial recovery is going. Remember, initial recovery is 2 to 8 weeks, with full recovery taking up to a year!!

I will be here to help you out along with my two other sisters. We will do our best to answer any questions you may have, point you to different areas on the website, and just hand out hugs when you need them.

You will all have a lot of questions in the days coming up ahead. Many of you will be asking "is this normal?" Many will have questions about swelly belly Gas pains and bathroom issues
Many will notice some things happening with your emotions

These are all things that you will go through at some point in your recovery. But don't worry. Most of it is normal and everyone on this thread is going through it at the same time, together!

Remember, if you have questions about your recovery, you can start a new thread in the Post Op Forum to try to get some extra support from your sisters that are further along in their recovery.

A few things to remember.....

Drink Plenty of water
Walk around often
Don't try to be
This is your one chance to heal right the first time, so don't forget to pamper the
Get your rest!! You will need it.

Remember, this is not a race, recovery takes time so take it slow and you will do great!!!

You will have pains and go through things you are not used to, but just remember...it is temporary. There is light at the end of the tunnel now and you are on your way to a better life!!!

Feel free to come here and with us about how you are doing in your recovery. This is a fun place to get to know those that are at the same place in this journey. It is also a great thread to help remind you that you are not alone!!

I got to come home today with a catheter. Not happy about the catheter, but because I have read so many stories on here I new it was a huge possibility. Everything else has gone according to plan and I have only taken one narcotic pain pill. the rest has been Ibuprophen. Take care all my new sisters!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 30-May 06,2012

Spent one night in the hospital. The nurses were great, especially my pre-op nurse who shared her own experience with me. I almost had to stay another night as my blood pressure, usually low, went waaaaay low but thinking about work and other stresses seemed to do the trick and I was home by noon yesterday (5/1). Taking it easy especially with walking as I get dizzy probs from the low pressure.

I'm pretty crumpled up. I have a pillow I hang on to over my belly in bed and on the couch. Made it through the day with ibuprofin only and then at night took the stronger stuff to help me sleep which did wonders. I kept waking up every time I rolled an inch but went right back to sleep.

Today I had a shower which felt great. Kind of feels like someone with heavy boots kicked me from the inside out. But overall it is pretty much what I expected. DH is here taking care of me and tomorrow my mom is coming for a few days. I am trying to take it day by day and am so grateful for all the info and support I found here at HysterSisters. Best wishes to all of you!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Apr 30-May 06,2012

WHOOOO HOOOO!!!!! Surgery was May 1st, TVH. Surgery was at 7:30am and I remember waking up around 9:20am. My pain has been very minimal to almost none, spent the night in the castle and am very happy to be home. I am amazed at how easy this has been. A walk in the park!!!! I had a breast reduction about 5 years ago and that recovery was 10 times worse!!!! I am looking forward to kicking back and doing NOTHING for the next 6 weeks!!! Doctor did say i could go back to my walking whenever my energy level would allow... Don't think I will start back with the normal 4 miles, will start out at 1/2 mile and work up from there. Happy, happy momma!!!!
