has anyone ever canceled twice?

Here I am again thinking about not having the surgery.

The problem is I don't feel I have explored/tried all options. The dr. offered ablation or hyst. I did not want to have the ablation. I have read about MANY failed ablations. Besides 2 of the fibroids are on the fundus and the ablation will not do anything to take care of them. It seemed like it was just going through the process. Have the ablation and when it fails move on to the hyst. That's the way the dr. kind of explained it. I did ask about UFE dr. was not very encouraging about that and <oops! name of insurance company removed per site guidelines!> will not cover focused ultrasound.

I am very unsettled about all of this. I really have only 1 week of HEAVY can't go anywhere bleeding every 9weeks. I do have aches and pains and the dr. thinks the 2 fibroids on the top of the fundus are causing my back pain since my uterus is tipped back.

I just don't know what to do. Has anyone ever went to a ND for fibroid treatment. I have been doing a lot of reading about natural medicine. I wonder how my dr will react if I cancel my surgery again. This will be the second time. She will probably think i'm crazy. Thanks for listening.

has anyone ever canceled twice?

I can so feel your pain! My husband does a lot of alternative health care. I was so torn about what to do, the natural side of me wanted to see what happened, the other side wanted to get it over with. My final decision came when my step mom died of uterine cancer. However, I rescheduled twice! The first time was because the holidays were coming up and I knew it would be her last and I didn't want to be in recovery mode (although she never made it to them) and the second was due to the fact that I found out I would be having bladder work done. Through it all, my GYN was supportive, he knew it was a huge decision and that I had to be ready for it. His nurse, not so happy, but we dealt with it. WHen I FINALLY did it, I was soooo relieved that it was over with. Up to the point of being wheeled out to the OR though, I was unsure, in fact I asked my GYN if it was too late! And in the recovery room, I decided to change my mind and leave, only to find out I was done! I feel so much better physically having the uterus out. My uterus had grown to twice the size and had to be sectioned out. There were multiple fibroids within the wall. My DH said it would have taken a lot of time to get them down naturally. I think that natural medicine has a wonderful place, but that at times, things get out of hand to the point where you need to decide whether or not it is worth it to continue in pain and with heavy bleeding. Whatever you decide has to be YOUR decision and you have to be happy with it. Good luck. <Please keep support on the boards as per the site TOS. Thanks!>

has anyone ever canceled twice?

I too have cancelled twice, and although my surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning, I am still having second thoughts but I am going through with it anyway. I often get fooled into thinking that my pain is manageable and that the spotting throughout the month doesn’t bother me, but my quality of life is started to be affected and I don’t want to be on pain meds the rest of my life. It’s not good for your body and it keeps me from enjoying a nice glass of wine with my dinner . In addition, sex is painful for me and I’m tired of that being my main focus when my DH are intimate. I admit, I don’t have it as bad as many of the women on the boards, but I know what I am feeling is not normal and I am long overdue for some peace of mind. Also, things will just continue to get worse and I may have to have a more difficult and complicated surgery down the line.

Go with your heart and what you feel you can live with. You have every right to cancel again if you are still apprehensive. I’m sure you will make the right decision for you.
