Is ANYONE having a good hysterectomy recovery?!!!

I'm so glad you are experiencing a good recovery. I too have had a smooth time of it. I agree with others that have shared that they didn't post about a good recovery for fear of making others with problems or complications feel bad.

However, I think we do have a role to play by encouraging others that it CAN go well. We can communicate with pre-op princesses and others who post their recovery status.

Hope you continue to heal well and fell stronger every day.

Is ANYONE having a good hysterectomy recovery?!!!

I have had a great recovery. I am 4 weeks and 2 days out and I feel great. I do have days when I am real tired. I have been shopping some. I do have alot of pressure, like everything is going to fall out but the doctor said that it is because of the healing.

Is ANYONE having a good hysterectomy recovery?!!!

Hello

Here's wishing you all the best as you prepare physically and emotionally for "going under the knife".
One of the things that helped me both pre-op and post-op is going to this site every day and reading and learning soooooooo much. It is truly what I needed and more. From this site, I learn so much which the doctor did not tell me so on my visits I am armed with this barrage of questions and comments. I really admire the strength all the ladies show as they deal with this experience of a life-time. I will lbe eternally grateful to HysterSisters. com Hugs

Is ANYONE having a good hysterectomy recovery?!!!

I have had a ton of pain because I had to have my uterus scraped out of my abdominal wall and I also went through a laproscopy minutes before my abdominum was opened for surgery. It sucks. I am 5 weeks and 2 days out right now. I am hoping it gets better soon.

Is ANYONE having a good hysterectomy recovery?!!!

I'm having a great recovery so far. I had a TAH (kept the ovaries)and came home the next day. Was expecting to stay at least two days, but the doc said I was doing well and could go home if I wanted and I definitely wanted to! I do have a great support team though with my husband and daughter. They are taking excellent care of me.

Had staples out this past Tuesday which was painless and it felt good to get them out. Have steri-strips now that will hopefully wear off in a few days. Bloating, inability to pass gas, and constipation was tough earlier this week, but has been resolved. Tastes are still a little off and can't tolerate much coffee the morning. Stopped taking Lortab 3 days ago and use Motrin 800 if I need to.

At this point, even with the soreness of the surgery...I already feel tons better than I did before! My body tells me when I've pushed it enough and I'm careful to listen to it and rest when it says to!

Thanks to all for sharing and for all the support! Wishing everyone all the best!

Is ANYONE having a good hysterectomy recovery?!!!

I am. I think I can attribute it to the fact that I worked out regularly for 2 years prior to surgery, and got out of bed as soon as I could stand it to walk. I still have my stomach, but once I settle down to my old routine I think that will start going away. My doctor cleared me after the 6 week period -- hurrah! He wants me to check in with him in 6 months instead of the usual 3, so I think I have a lot to be glad about.

I have the weird dreams too! I thought it was just me. Really vivid dreams with strange things in them that I can't figure out. Sometimes they're frightening, but most of the time they're just very, very bizarre.

The only other thing that upsets me at all is the hot flashes...if I could spend one night without throwing the covers off fifty times, then throwing them on because I'm freezing, I'd be even happier than I am!

I really am glad for this thread! I am going to be 5 weeks out on Monday, and I feel today as if I haven't had any surgery at all, as far as pain. I do get really tired at night when I have a really busy day with lots of running around or standing. But most days, my surgery is rapidly becoming a distant memory! I'm continuing my "power healing shake" in the mornings, my supplements, and eating well.

Good healing, all!!!

Well, I made it back to work and survived! Two nights working, tonight and tomorrow off, Sunday night working, and then I go on vacation for a week. (The vacation was originally a November week, but it was pushed back because you can't be sick and on vacation at the same time.)

No problem doing my job, walking back and forth and around and back climbing up and down -- actually felt better than I have in I don't know how long! "Hey, not only did I lose that backache when I had that surgery, my knees aren't screaming when I climb anymore. This is good!"

Had to stick around late to take care of other business both days, though. When I finally got home today, my legs *ached* some fierce! I guess that was why I had leftover horse-pill Motrin -- took a Motrin, went to bed, and feel much better :-)
