Post-op Hair

I had a hysterectomy via incision and Davinci Robot on February 28, 2013. So far, I am feeling okay. I get the occasional soreness and urination frequency. I have not ventured out into the "real world" yet because I am trying to properly recuperate AND because I look horrible! My niece was kind enough to give me cornrow braids because my hair was matting. Unfortunately, I look quite manly. Unacceptable! So, I am scheduling an appointment to get my hair braided professionally. The process takes anywhere from 6-12 hours. The shop gave me the option of having two women braid my hair at the same time to cut the time from 3-6 hours. Should I be okay to have this done? I am on blood thinners so I shouldn't run the risk of clots. What do you think?

Re: Post-op Hair

I think you should be fine to have it done IF you can get up and walk every hour or so. All during my first month post op, if I sat for anytime longer than an hour my belly would start to swell and I would get really tired. On the brighter side, I felt so much better after I was able to get my hair dyed (no greys) and cut (no sheepdog look). Hopefully both women will understand and coordinate so that you can stand when you need to.

Re: Post-op Hair

Thank you Elsie! I'll feel so much better once my Wolverine look is gone. I'll make sure to get up and walk every hour. Q.
