My first update after 12/8 surgery

Hi everyone,
On Dec 8., I had a TAH with single ovary/tube removed. Don't remember if it was right or left side (will find out at my recheck), but had to go b/c it fused to my fibroid uterus, which was the size of a "large melon"! No wonder I looked pregnant! Surgery went fine and I have a bikini line incision (reused the one where I had ovarian cysts removed in my 20's). First day was a blur of anesthesia- and morphine-induced sleeping, and I tolerated the drugs fine. Woke late afternoon and sucked on ice chips to soothe my parched mouth. Friday the catheter and morphine pumps were disconnected and I took my first wobbly steps. Pain was managed by Percoset. Stayed on liquid diet til Saturday evening when I finally passed gas! Went home Sunday around noon and have been resting and moving very slowly here at home. Finally had first real "b.m." today--phew! Prune juice and dried prunes are part of my snacks each day to hopefully keep things moving along. Despite the "surgical" pain and swelling, I must say that my chronic back pain actually feels better and my belly definitely feels less "full"! Could it be that the big "melon" was pressing against nerves in my back? Or is it just b/c I'm on motrin all day long (and Percoset at night)? I hope everyone else who's had surgery this week is feeling well!
