uncomfortable sitting up, swollen up high

10 days after TVH and feeling great except for I can't sit up. I feel like a have a huge belly but it's not swollen on the outside. I have no pain at all down low. But this high pressure is really bothering me. I have to over exaggerate my posture to make it through dinner. Does anyone have an idea what is causing this? Thanks

Re: uncomfortable sitting up, swollen up high

I had the same thing for weeks after my tvh with repairs. Dr said it was just from all the swelling from healing going on inside. Also, not sure if you know but when they do a tvh you are laid with your head pointing down and basically your organs are pushed up towards your chest. This creates some discomfort the first few weeks as things settle back to where they belong. Hopefully yours won't last as long as mine did.

Re: uncomfortable sitting up, swollen up high

I still have it, but it's better. I figured it was because I am swollen on inside. My tummy isn't swollen visibly, but I definitely still feel swollen inside. I had abdominal surgery, and think its from the moving around of intestines too. Don't think they like that. I feel full really fast, feel like my entire digestion is more sensitive still. But my doctor said 6 months before I really feel normal again ... I believe him now ...

Re: uncomfortable sitting up, swollen up high

Thanks ladies for the replies. I guess the body just has it's own way of dealing with the trauma. It's just not the part of my body I thought would be swollen. Have a great day!

Re: uncomfortable sitting up, swollen up high

i had same thing for bout 5-7days post op, it felt like everything was pushed up high to my neck, and when i tried to eat i just couldnt, very very small amounts of food, and so very uncomfortable as well. now i know why, geesh i had no idea i was upsidedown for that surgery. This info really helps me have more understanding now why i was so nauseaus and why my guts felt like they were under my breast lol. Thankyou ladies for all the helpful info in here. I am hooked now and love all the positive feedback and very helpful advice the women have in here. i am now 16 days post op and swelling went down from being up high bout end of first week and now just some swelling in belly and hard at times. to know and be first hand at it that it does get better is such a relief, and also ive had some off days too where i get concerned bout whats happening to my body but i just keep reading here and my concerns get answers and i feel so much better..again thankyou to all the ladies in here who are so positive and helpful, as i know i will be needing you for long time.
