Re: Rectal Pain with BM

I am now 2 weeks out and until today I was almost pain free. Maybe I was pushing too hard to have bowel movements (it didn't hurt at all). Today I decided to use an enema because I felt like I had a lot of pressure on my rectum. The enema worked but I had the most painful bowel movement I have ever had. There was a sharp pain in my abdomen and rectum and I thought I was going to scream. Now I am feeling crampy and just a little sick to my stomach. I guess I need to really up my fiber, stool softners and water because I reallly do not feel like going through that again.

Definelty up your water intake. I would also go to Miralax. It is a very gently laxative with a stool softener that a lot of surgeons recommend. It doesn't cramp you and is non habit forming. It was a life saver for me. I am 4 wks post op and no longer need it but this one will be a keeper in the medicine cabinet. I hope this helps

Re: Rectal Pain with BM

I agree. Miralax and Colace were and are my saving grace. I am 9 weeks out and still have to use both. My gyn sent me to a gaso, he said that sometimes for some people it can take a long time for things to get back to "normal". He talked with me for about an hour discussing issues I had before and after surgery. See my gyn thought maybe I was impacted, but the gaso did not. He told me that I could take the Miralax and the Colace because it is very safe to use and has no side effects.
