Survived the early morning wake up with the help of the "sisters"

This was my first venture into the support group and I received many wonderful replies already to my early morning posting and anxiety. Thanks.

Isn't it great? I have come here more than once when the rest of the world was sleeping and gotten just the support I needed. Pre-op anxiety is not fun, but it does help knowing that we are not alone.

Survived the early morning wake up with the help of the "sisters"

Hi Dorothy,

For me, my surgery gave me back my life. I was bleeding 3 of every 4 weeks with labor-like pains. I was not able to keep my iron count up, so I had been anemic for many years, even taking supplements.

A hysterectomy is a life changing surgery. I knew that my life would change. What I did was read the posts in "The Road", "Bladder Matters", "Sexual Dysfunction" and "Post Op". (You can't reply to these forums yet, but you can read them to learn and then come back here and post your questions.)

I made a list of all the reasons for having a hyst/bso and the symptoms I was having. I made another list of all the possible problems that can be caused by a hysterectomy. I realized that I may possibly (and did) trade one set of problems for another, but I was willing to make that trade off.

Only you can decide if a hysterectomy and/or oopherectomy are the right choice for you. It is always a good idea to get 2 opinions in addition to your original one. It is also a good idea to research as much as you can and see if there are any real alternatives for your problems.

Learn as much as you can, so you can make the best decision for you

S,
Kay
