not sure what is wrong yet.

Hello everyone,
I am 35 in october 2010, I statrted my period at the age of 8; on birth control for abnormal bleeding since age of 14. All the ladies on my mothers side have had hysterectomys before the age of 40 for endometriosis. I have 3 children all vaginal deliveries; started to have major pain after the early birth of my youngest(detatched placenta). In 2008 I had a cyst removed from each ovarie both I was told looked like golf balls; now I am bleeding heavy for 14 days or I have clots like baseballs and no flow. I had d&c in 1991 periods were no better. Scheduled to speak with gynocologist in may, to check for endometriosis, I hope they find something to explain the pain I feel every day with no relief from medications. If any one has suggestions I would be greatful.

Re: not sure what is wrong yet.

I had 5 cyst on my left ovary and 2 on my right ovary removed in Dec 2008. I felt pretty good for about 7 months then the pain started again . Went to gyn and had an ultrasound done and they found new cysts on both ovary and the fibrods in my uterus had grown. Since I didn't want any more children ( I have a boy and a girl) I opted to have the hyst done. I was able to have it done LAVH since the fibrods weren't that large.

I am 6 weeks post op now and feel like a new person.

Re: not sure what is wrong yet.

I am glad to hear you are feeling better. I do not know yet exactly what my issues are; hoping to find out soon. I would like one day with out pain, and the headache that has not gone away in over a year. Hope all continues to go well for you.

Re: not sure what is wrong yet.

(((mortisha)))

When you had cysts removed in 2008, was any tissue sent off to pathology? Did the surgeon take any pictures of your pelvic region at that time? If endometriosis was present back then, there may be evidence in pictures or on your pathology report.

To make a 100% accurate diagnosis of endometriosis, one needs to undergo surgery, usually an exploratory laparoscopy.

I wish you all the best and hope you find some answers soon! My hysterectomy was for continuous bleeding related to endometriosis. I have also dealt with never ending headaches so my goes out to you!
