3 weeks post hysterectomy: How soon can I ride as a passenger on a motorcycle?

, Good Morning, I had my surgery exactly 3 weeks ago today. Laproscopic. I went to my Dr for my first post op visit on June 18th and was told that I could start driving short distances. I didnt think to ask if I could be a passenger on my husbands motorcycle at the time or when I could start. I know I can not ride my own bike for a while but I would love to be able to get out on my husbands bike. I was curious if anyone else has ridin as a passenger and how soon after their surgery?

That would be best directed to your dr, but I would guess it would be when you are completely cleared, which for me was 6 weeks. The bumpiness, plus the risk of falling is what I am thinking of. Glad you're doing well!

I agree, you will likely need to wait until all restrictions are lifted (for me it was 8 weeks) and I would ask specifically about whether being a passenger on a motorcycle is ok.

3 weeks post hysterectomy: How soon can I ride as a passenger on a motorcycle?

I rode my own bike at 3 weeks ... 25 miles round trip with a break half way (rested about 30/45 minutes) and I was careful to pay close attention to my speed and bumps (as i normally do anyways) however .... I hurt quite a bit that night and was worried I may have messed up my recovery; although, all seems fine as far as I can tell, I'm not sure it was worth the risk! Personally, I wouldn't advise it!! I haven't been back on my bike since & figure it's smarter to just be patient and wait!! I've read so many times that you only get one chance to heal right & I agree! (I had a lapse in judgement).

The vibration is what probably affected me the most (as I had A&P repair as well as a TAH/BSO). I really didn't hit any bumps but it was on my mind the entire time that if I had turned my bike over the damage it would do because of my recent surgery, in addition to the "normal" damage!

my advice ... just wait!! Your time will come soon enough! It's better to be safe than sorry!!
