Pain during urination

I had surgery about 8 weeks ago, and my biggest post-op problem was urination. I couldn't urinate on my own for almost 4 weeks and had to self-catheterize; I thought and still think that this was due to inflammation of my lower abdomen. Things have gradually gotten better, although it still feels achy (not sharp stabbing pain, but achy) when I get nearly empty.

If you have sharp stabbing pain, I'd definitely suspect a uti. But aching when pooping or peeing isn't unusual.
