Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

Just switched from the Climara patch to a combo pill of Estrogen 1.25/Testosterone 2.5 I'm guessing it's generic because I see no name & I'm covered through the VA. They're cheap.

Okay...after Googling it, it would appear I'm taking Estratest.

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

Just started my HRT yesterday. I'm using the Estradiol patch. I am hoping the cramping last night was because I lifted too much during the day. I'm six weeks post op and my weight limit was lifted, told to use my common sense. Foolish doctor. I have none. Apparently he took it along with my uterus and ovaries.

I am using the Elestrin spray and I love it! I spray 2 pumps on my upper arm each morning and go on with my day! I am 4 weeks post op and started it a week ago. My hot flashes are almost gone, and my emotions are calming down (fewer tears and fears). My dr went over the different options but I liked that using a hrt that bypasses my liver was the best choice for me.

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

Update: Went off of the patch. Apparently I'm allergic to it. Started taking herbal instead.

Re: Poll: If you take prescription HRT, what kind do you take?

Two months ago I started taking one 5 mg of Estradiol a day. I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago and at the begining of this year my libido died, and my short term memory was caput! Granted my libido wasn't all that great to begin with due to pain and discomfort before the removal of my girl parts (I still have my right ovary), and my ability to concentrate and memory had changed gradually over a five year period, but I started out the new year with my brain in a fish bowl and, sex?? Nothing, and I mean NOTHING could entice my to have it. So off to the gyno I went and he is the best in the world and always takes me seriously and listens to everything I say...an absolute life saver to all the women who are tended by him. Anyway, he had my blood drawn, an sure enough, my estrogen level had fallen. And no, no mention of cost was discussed, nor did I even consider it, I just wanted the problem fixed. And voila! What a difference. My mental abilities aren't perfect, I'd say it's back to what it was, maybe a smidgen less, but totally workable. One more thing, my insurance covers the Estradiol, I pay $3 a month. I'm very very fortunate.
