urinary tract infection?

Tomorrow will be 3 weeks post TAH, and I'm feeling great. I've diligently done nothing, allowing others to serve me, and taking a nap almost daily. Getting out of bed and taking stairs is much easier now. My only trouble is tenderness in the vaginal area--pain when I pee and especially wipe. Could it be a UTI? I'm waiting for the doctor to return my call.

Re: urinary tract infection?

Hi saltandpepper

I'm glad to hear that you are taking it easy!

It's also good that you have called your doctor. Better safe than sorry, for sure. Sometimes we get post-op infections from the antibiotics, sometimes our tissues are extra sensitive.

Have a great rest of the day!

Re: urinary tract infection?

Hi Saltandpepper,
It definitely could be, the only way to know for sure is with a urinalysis. It's generally a quick test, unless they have to "culture" it at which point it takes anywhere from 24-72 hours.
As you can tell, I get lots of UTI's lol
The upside is, they're super treatable and the pain usually goes away within 24 hours of treatment. Glad to hear that you're otherwise healing well
