Bloating 3 months post hysterectomy

I've been reading posts and decided it was time to post something.

I had a TAVH 3 months ago. 3 weeks post-op my stomach swelled up & I look 6 months pregnant. I'm having pain in my stomach and lower back.

I have also developed a very strong odor. Is anyone out there with a similar problem? I'm uncomfortable and desperate for answers. My doc just keeps saying, "not sure why you're so bloated. "

Please help!

Swelly belly can become more prevalent w increased activity. That can cause discomfort & sensations rather than pain...Has your Dr checked you for infection? Ultrasound? Odor, discomfort & back pain sounds like a UTI.

Also be sure youre keeping your GI sysyem going bc it can be different post op & remain.. Probiotic, yogurt, kefir. Smoothies w spinach, rasberries or bluberries, banana, 2 Tbls flax seeds, yogurt, soy milk, ice.. Apples, veggies...

If you dont get answers w your Dr then get a 2nd opinion. Feel better. Let us know.

I have poor stomach motility, and bloating is my constant companion. What I would recommend is to be sure you're taking daily walks, which will help your bowels more than anything. Also try peppermint tea, and supplementing your diet with magnesium, which also promotes proper bowel function; food sources include leafy greens, whole grains, nuts and seeds, and dark chocolate. Add some cherries to your smoothie; that's what got me going after my surgery. Ginger is well known for treating all sorts of stomach issues; you can cook with it, or have some ginger tea. Also avoid or minimize common bloat triggers; that includes legumes, onions and garlic, cruciferous vegetables, cucumbers, melons, pears, and artificial sweeteners. Also try massaging your abdomen, starting at the right hip, moving up to the waist, across your belly button to the left side, then down and across, back to the starting point. This follows the path of your colon, and should help to move everything through. Best wishes for your continued recovery!
