My chemoversary.....
....came and went. I wanted to really really celebrate the anniversary
of my last chemo treatment. October 21, 2004.....last one. I really
had big wants for this year to commemerate the day. Flowers to the
gyn/onc's office, big fancy dinner, going away for the weekend, doing something special for me.
Well, life got in the way. I got busy having fun unrelated to cancer. While I remembered a few days ago that it
was coming up, I just got busy with life and forgot all about it til
late last night.
And you know what? That's GREAT, imho. It means that I'm totally not
dwelling on the past. I'm looking FORWARD, and living for today. That makes me feel good unto itself. So good
in fact that I think I'll treat myself to a pedicure today. And
MAYBE a shopping spree. I've had my eyes on these beautiful little silver cross earrings..I think I'm going to treat myself to them after all as an anniversary gift.
I am a survivor. You are all, too. Things look bleak sometimes, and
it's hard to remember that. We ARE warriors. Cancer ***** but please
don't let it rob you of the life you have now by worrying about the
future. Live your best life for today.
End of sermon

Hey--that you want to look forward and the day got lost in the busy-ness of your life, you're doing really well! I vote for the earrings. And the dinner. And some chocolate... When you can be so full of life that you forget the anniversary I have to say: you are totally amazing!

My chemoversary.....
Well, I dont' know about a SMALL part, because I am sure there are times that it's the only thing we'll be able to think about , but I think it's good just to be able to see that there's more to life than just our cancers. Can't let that define us, I guess is what I"m trying to say.
Thanks for the congrats, Karenann! I know that YOU have been a huge inspiration to me, and I thank you for that.
xoxo

My chemoversary.....
Happy chemoversary, K9!!!!! May you have many, many more anniversaries and no more chemos!
Your post prompted me to remember that my own chemoanniversary is tomorrow. I rented a small storage unit a couple months ago since my tiny house has no basement, garage or attic. and I am becoming overwhelmed with stuff. One of the first boxes to go in was the one with my wig and hats. I hope it stays in there forever!
