Numb Groin Area...Anyone else?
My TLH/BSO was done on January 8, 2008. My upper left groin area has been numb ever since. It will hurt occasionally, but it's most irritating.
I asked my doctor about it at the first week check-up. He said a nerve may have been pressed down during surgery, but the feeling should return. It's been over 4 weeks and it's still numb.
Has this happened to anyone else, and if so, does it correct itself?

Numb Groin Area...Anyone else?
I'm numb above my incision and it's annoying!! I didn't ask my dr, I guess because I'm so afraid of him doing something to hurt me. I know that's wrong but I cannot help it.
I remember this from C sections also. I am 10 days post op.

Numb Groin Area...Anyone else?
I had numbness and swelling and it's all very normal. Anesthesia and nerves being bruised usually cause this. That is why even in your fourth and fifth week you start feeling pain that seems abnormal. The nerves start waking up and healing and sometimes you will wonder why you feel like crap after so long. My third and fifth week were the worst, I felt like I had gone round-two in a fight. Do not let that scare you, Motrin and rest took care of it.
Feel better!!

KCfromAL and bitterpill,
Thank you both for your replies. There are days when these last 4 weeks have felt like 4 months! I need to remember that healing takes time...and patience!
bitterpill, I'm thankful with you that your tests came back clear. The word "cancer" strikes fear in my heart! I lost my only brother because of it 6 years ago. Take care and God bless you!

I know what you mean.. I'm only 10 days out but I feel like I've been recovering for months. And to make it all worse, I have some sort of stomach bug my son brought home to me. No need for the Miralax anymore. But I feel worse today than I did yesterday.

Thanks gladitsover08,
I am sorry about your brother. Yes, the C word is a scary, scary word. My gyn (and I am thankful) pulled no punches with me in telling me. She just sat with me and told me "You have cancer and you need surgery now." I was numb. The thing was, all I could think of was my mother who had just been diagnosed with lung cancer a month before me. She is putting up and good fight and her last CT scan showed that the tumor is shrinking. She is in her second round of chemo. I lost my grandmother to cancer and am losing my step-papa soon to cancer...I hate the C word too.
God bless,
bitterpill

Oh boy!! I hope you feel better soon. I cannot imagine having the stomach flu so soon after surgery.
Feel better!
