Re: T-Minus 3 days & counting: Questions!

Hi Christy....besides the PCA pump, I also had an infusion pump...this was put directly into my incision and made my tummy numb. And the meds from the infusion pump didn't make me loopy or anything it was all localized. It was wonderful...I had to carry it in a small purse. The PCA pump will only let you have so much medicine at a time..it won't let you over-dose.

Re: T-Minus 3 days & counting: Questions!

Thank you
The reason I'm concerned is because I ended up in the ER after my surgery with a migraine that was not responsive to pain meds. It took Dilaudid & some other mix of meds to finally work. They actually wanted to do a spinal tap to see if I had a blood clot in my brain from the surgery, but I wouldnt let them unless they exhausted all other efforts first. I was told Dilaudid is pretty much the strongest stuff out there. I am not good with dealing with pain. In any event, I'm sure its safe to assume the nursing staff will help me be comfortable.

Man, I hate anxiety!!!!!!!

Re: T-Minus 3 days & counting: Questions!

Hi Christy,
I had my TAH in April and elected against an epidural. I had the general with an extra dose of anti-nausea meds. Yes, I was intubated but have no idea as to when the tube was put in or removed. Last thing I remember was seeing my in the room scrubbing his hands and the next thing I knew they were wheeling me down the bumpiest hall in the world to my room.
Hope all goes well for all of you great ladies going to the castle this week! We will be waiting for you on the other side.

I'm doing awful. I just explained in a long post in the post-op section for my surgery date. I still dont have answers about the cancer either. Doc said I had a TON of adhesions, my bladder was completely fused to my stomache (which he corrected). He said there was no visible signs of cancer, so he didnt do the frozen section. He said it doesnt mean its not microinvasive. I will know for sure when pathology comes back early next week. I'm miserable, and in a ton of pain.
