I am so tired 5 months post op

No longer am I the night owl. When the tiredness hits, it hits!

Right now I could lay down and sleep. I am more tired now than right after the surgery.

Is it just me? Is it hormonal changes (ovaries are gone)?

I have no energy. Scares me a bit.

Any insight will be helpful.

Thanks!

Hi Sherri,
Sounds to me like all is normal. You are still healing. It takes about a year before the extraordinary fatigue disappears. I was right in that same spot at 5 months post-op. Once I was tired, that was it...lights out.

Hang in there, you'll get to the other side of this.

I kind of went through that for a bit too. Now I'm back to the night owl thing. It could be from so many things. Hope you start to feel better soon.

Re: I am so tired 5 months post op

I am six months post op and I have never napped in my life. I have to have a nap every day now and it is usually by lunch time I am ready to crash. Long naps...usually an hour or so.
Some of it, I think, may have to do with being cooped up in the house all of the time. When the weather is better and I go outside, it doesn't seem to be as bad.

I went through something similar. It was around month eight when I noticed that I was napping less. Your body is healing and needs the rest. The more rest you are able to get the better for your body. Listen to your body. It will gradually need less when the time is right for you. Happy healing! Jenn

Re: I am so tired 5 months post op

I find that at least two or three days a week when I am at work in the afternoon that I have a sudden feeling of "needing a nap now". Unfortunately, this isn't possible at the time and I have to push through it, but on the weekends I nap both days and still sleep all night. I also believe that if I am feeling that way that my body must need the extra rest and that if I treat it right now, eventually I will get all of my energy back. It is hard to be patient with my body sometimes, though. Family and friends expect me to be 100% now.
