3 Weeks post op hysterectomy belly soreness

I had my TAH BSO 3 weeks ago today. My belly is still very sore to touch...and I feel like I still need pain pills. Is this normal? This is my 3rd abdominal surgery so my doc said it could take a little longer to recouperate due to the adhesions and scar tissue. Just tired of hurting.

Week 3 was very hard on me. I took narcotic pain pills into week 4. It is totally normal. Like you I also had a pelvis full of adhesions that had to be cut out and I had to have my bladder and uterus separated.

Hang in there. It does get better!

As long as your doctor isn't concerned, it's your normal. I had an SAH the day before your surgery, and my right side is still quite sore as well. I'm trying to taper off the pain pills so I can be cleared to drive next week.I still take ibuprofen to help with pain and swelling, and I've found ice to be soothing. My PCP asked why I was still taking Percocet when I saw her last week, but my Gyn who did the surgery was more understanding.

Hope you feel better soon.

My gyn didn't want to refill my percocet at 2 weeks appt.! I was so mad! He said, you shouldn't have pain like that now. He did refill my ibuprofen. I asked him if I should be resting, and he said, no, make sure you are walking everyday. GRRRRRR. I am sure that he has never cooked, drove children to school, or done laundry in his life or had a hysterectomy in his life. Thankfully I had Tramadol from before the surgery, and took those in my 3rd week. Now I am in my 4th week, and put myself on bedrest yesterday, because of constant abdominal pain. After that the pain was almost nonexistant with just resting and taking ibuprofen.

Hi I had my hysterectomy aug 26 I spent 3 days in hospital. Had my uterus and appendix with scar tissue removed along with scar tissue around my ureters and colon on the right side which was causing severe pain. I had adeno but my uterus was also attached to my abdominal wall.
I am on my 4th week post op and my doctor has been great I asked to refill my pain meds last week and he did. I only take them when I feel I really need to and have even stepped down to taking half a pill if I'm in pain.
My stomach too is still very sore inside but the skin itself hurts when I touch it like an intense achy feeling. The Advil doesn't work so well for me anymore due to contracting lymes disease in July and taking Advil from then almost up until surgery just so I could walk and to keep my fever down. Im ready to feel some real progress pain wise and I'm trying to be patient. I'm right there with u !! :-)
