Re: Keep cervix and ovaries or not??

I had both ovaries and my cervix removed but i had a history of chronic ovarian cysts on both ovaries, P.i.d.s when they would rupture as a result of the stuff infecting internal once it was let out of cyst, and some cervical issues, along with endometriosis ... for me it was at first a just take my ovaries and end my cysts and as a result my endometriosis and my periods and my pain, but dr said that he wanted to do a full hysterectomy to prevent uterus dropping later in age and having to have it lifted or removed and that he would take my cervix as well as it had issues and if my uterus did collapse or fall and need fixed that it would make my cervix and low area more painful. Thats what he told me .. whether he was right or not I believed it and had ovaries tubes uterus and cervix taken. I am in no more pain but again I had lots of genetic female issues. TO me it would be a decision based on what are your health issues now... if an ovary or ovaries or cervix were removed would it help those health issues.... if not then keep them if you want.. your hormones will be more balanced. IF it would be a greater percentage that your health would be better by taking them out then I would say take one or both out.. but that is your decision for your body... for me taking out all of my female parts that were causing problems had a 90% or higher percentage of improving my health..

Re: Keep cervix and ovaries or not??

Thank you all!! I have processed your comments and talked to my mom and sister as well (one says keep for now, one said go until we had talked a little more!) Anyway, right now I'm leaning toward keeping both unless the doc sees something that concerns him. Will let you all know how it goes!
